Gladys

Gladys was filled with despair before God showed her that he knew her name and could meet her family’s needs.  When we visited her home, she told us about her situation and how she wanted to commit suicide because she couldn’t bear the thought of seeing her children die hungry and not be able to go to school.  Her family was very sick and her house was falling down.  We prayed together that day and told her that the Lord had heard her cry and was going to answer her.

At first, her children were recruited in the sponsorship program so they could go to school, and some of their health needs could be met.  In the beginning, we even had to provide food for this family.  Gladys worked so hard to try to find food and money for her family, but challenges always seemed to keep coming and often her gardens were destroyed by the neighbor’s cattle.

At times, she would feel overwhelmed, but we kept reminding her God was with her and kept praying for and with her.  Eventually, she received a new house and latrine through the program.  She was also employed  as a caregiver at our Palace of Treasures.

Today she is doing much better, and her children are all going to school.  In fact, her oldest daughter just graduated from high school, and her younger children are in the top five of their class.  God definitely intervened on her behalf!
