2010 :: The Completion of a medical center.
We thank the Lord because we have completely finished building the Medical Center and will be fully operational no later than the end of 2011. We are also thankful to the students in our local school districts who did fundraisers to raise the money for the medicine that will be needed to begin offering services. We know that this building will be a great source of hope and joy for many.

2010 :: The Third Annual Children's Day
This day of honoring children truly sends a valuable message in a country where children are often devalued, neglected, or abandoned This celebration is solely for the purpose of making children feel loved and important. We begin the day with a march through the town as we walk from the church to the playground. Then the children present songs and dances, worship together, hear a Gospel message, eat lots of food and cake, play games, and receive small gifts. Many children in Kyenjojo participate in this day. This year we had almost 500 children! We praise God it was a glorious day-filled with joy and laughter--and no rain!

2009, 2010 :: Drilling the Children's Village's water well.
Although this project has been more costly and has taken more time than we had previously anticipated, it continues to move forward. The water well has been drilled and covered, pump testing and water quality analysis tests have been conducted to determine the amount and quality of water the well can supply, and the water designer has created the piping system for the entire children's village. Our water tests revealed we have the cleanest and greatest water supply out of the entire Kyenjojo District. Our well will be able to yield 44 gallons per minute. In addition, preparations have been made in the US to purchase a water pump and generator to pump the water from the well to our facilities. This equipment will be shipped in early 2011. Finally, the Ugandans have begun to construct our 22,487 gallon holding tank, which will hold the water after it is pumped. God has definitely miraculously provided for us in regard to water! Our children and staff will never have to worry about becoming sick from drinking dirty water, and we know there will always be enough water no matter how many people live on our Chidren's Village.
Extra Information:
We witnessed a miracle on our Children's land in regard to our water well. When the water engineer initially came to our land, he said he could not find a suitable place to drill our well. He told us our land was very rocky and would not produce a good water supply. We asked people to pray and personally prayed for the Lord to intervene in this situation. My husband and another leader in our church even went to a particular place and prayed for a miraculous supply of water. Next, we called the water engineer to come back and investigate that specific area. When he did, he found there would be enough water to dig a well. When the water drillers actually came and conducted the drilling and pump testing, an abundant supply of water was found-a supply greater than they had seen in any of their projects in the entire district! The water engineer who had initially come to search for our well location could not believe his eyes. He said that it was surely a miracle! They told us we could pump 2,646 gallons of water per hour, which would be enough water to supply the whole district of Kyenjojo. God is awesome!

2009, 2010 :: The provision of medical treatment to some of the needy families in the area.
We take people for Medical treatment on a regular basis. Most of the people we are serving in Kyenjojo have a difficult time affording medical treatment. God has blessed us with the opportunity to provide these services to many of our church members and all of our sponsored children and their guardians.

|
2009, 2010 :: The sponsorship of 68 orphans and vulnerable children.
We are very, very excited because we now have 68 children who have sponsors. These children were in desperate situations until their sponsors chose to care for them and help provide for their numerous needs. As a result of this program, 68 children are now receiving school supplies and assistance in paying school fees, medical care, food, clothes, educational and Biblical training, and most importantly love!

2009, 2010 :: A Sunday service for the children of Kyenjojo District.
Alissa had a vision of teaching the children Biblical principles in order to raise up a new Godly generation in Kyenjojo. It has been such a joy to see this ministry expand-beginning with about 15 children to now almost 100! These children also receive lunch after their service, which is a meal many of them miss on a regular basis.

2009, 2010 :: Church Growth in God's Care Church.
We continue to give praise to the Lord for the church growth we are seeing. In just three years, the church has grown from 2 members to 150 members.

2009 :: The Purchase of 70 acres of land for the Children's Village.
God blessed us with a beautiful piece of land that will be able to support all of the projects we have planned for our Children's Village. Our timing on purchasing this land was perfect because we were able to pay the full price for the land before the owner of a large tea company, who wanted to purchase this property, returned from India. God had a divine purpose for this piece of land-to bring life and hope to many, not just to grow tea!

2009 :: The Purchase of a Construction Vehicle (Lorry Truck).
This vehicle was an enormous help in the construction of our Medical Center and continues to assist us with many other ministry projects we are doing. Most of the materials we use have to be transported to our children's land. It has been wonderful to have our own vehicle to do this job. It has also saved us lots of money. In addition, this vehicle has been used to transport our children from Sunday Church Services to their home. Many of the children walk for many miles to attend our church, so they were very thankful to be able to ride in the back of our truck!

|
2009 :: The Purchase of a generator to supply electricity to the Children's Village.
This generator is definitely a very vital part of our Village-without it, we would have no means of electricity because our land is located in the village. The necessary wires have been connected in the Medical Center so when we begin to operate this facility we will not have to worry about working with no electricity.

 |
2009 :: The Purchase of the land where God's Care Church is located.
This was an important step for our church. We could be kicked off the land at any time because we had not purchased the land. Also, as more time continued to pass, the landowner was threatening to raise the price even higher. We are thankful we now own this land and are believing God for more land in 2011. We continue to have a need for more church land as the number of children and adults increases.

2009 :: The Second Annual Children's Day
I always love the Children's Day event that we host each year. On this day, I don't see any children playing or sitting alone, going hungry, or being overlooked. This day is designed to make children laugh and forget all of the problems and responsibilities that surround them and simply be children. This is exactly what happens. The children enjoy themselves so much as they sing, dance, play, and eat. This year we even had three Americans come to assist us, and we introduced puppets to the children for the first time! They loved them. Unfortunately, we did receive a downpour of rain so we had to finish early.

2009 :: The visitation of two (2) American teams.
In June 2009, we had a team of 13 Americans visit us in Kyenjojo! This was a very exciting time for all of us. We delivered free medical services, distributed free glasses, hosted a Pastor's Conference, conducted door to door evangelism and school ministry, engaged in construction work, and distributed various supplies (including blankets-handmade by people in America) to the orphaned children.
Then in Nov. 2009, we hosted another American team of three people. We conducted our Annual Children's Day event, loved the people in various ways, distributed supplies to the orphaned children, and ministered in the adult and children's services. These Americans also blessed Pastor Victor and Alissa by providing them with a rain water collection system and a toilet that sits on top of the latrine hole. Both of these teams have clearly communicated the message of love to the people in Kyenjojo by leaving their comfort zones to serve others. We are deeply grateful to them.

2009 :: The provision of free medical services for three days by an American team.
This service was administered when the June team came. Hundreds of people lined up each day to receive these free services. The message of God's love and concern was definitely communicated through this physical expression of love and care.

2009 :: The hosting of the first meeting for guardians and children in the sponsorship program along with a Christmas dinner and gift giving event.
We had a meeting with the guardians and/or parents of our sponsored children and the children themselves. We had an opportunity to meet everyone better, thoroughly explain the logistics of our program and answer questions, and instruct the adults on better ways of caring for their children. Finally, we served a wonderful meal to everyone and gave out Christmas gifts.

2008, 2009, 2010 :: The distribution of school supplies, shoes, clothes, blankets, and medication.
This is one of the major outreaches that we do for the children of our community. Many of them only have one pair of clothes and even this pair is very dirty and tattered. Thanks to the kindness and generosity of students in local school districts, churches in various areas, and other people in Alissa's local community in the US, hundreds of children and youth have been able to receive these items.

2008 :: Distribution of School Supplies to more than 700 children
As a result of a fund raiser done by Alissa's former school district in America, she was able to deliver school supplies to two of the private Ugandan schools where Alissa had taught during her first trip to Uganda in the summer of 2007. In these two schools, she gave school supplies to over 600 children. This opportunity was a tremendous blessing for the Ugandan children, their school staff members, and for me. She was also able to purchase school supplies for 110 orphans from the village where she will be living. It filled her heart with great joy to see children being given an opportunity to be educated.
Headmistress Margaret said that many of the students in her school are orphans; therefore, they are unable to pay for school supplies. She was extremely grateful for the generosity and kindness of the American students.
Headmaster Godfrey said that some of his students had been sent home the week before Alissa came because they did not have Mathematical Sets, which include a compass, ruler, pencil, eraser, etc. Alissa was able to purchase these sets and distribute them because of the amount of money that was raised by the American students.

2008 :: Giving Worm Medication to approximately 250 children
Many of the families are unable to afford worm medication; therefore, many of the children have worms growing inside of them. It was wonderful to be able to remove their discomfort and increase their physical health by giving them this medication.

2008 :: Various Opportunities to Take Jesus and His Love to the Ugandan Community
"We are so thankful that you have come. You have brought Jesus to our home."
This elderly couple was among the group of individuals that I visited and prayed for while I spent time in Kyenjojo, Uganda. Many of the elderly people in this area are left seeking to raise a number of orphaned children, who have had one or both parents die of AIDS. The grandparents are very lonely and have many needs, but most importantly they need to know that Jesus loves them and truly cares about them.

2008 :: Salvation of Souls
As you bring Jesus and His love to others, they are drawn to become followers of Christ.
"I know Jesus loves me because you sat in the dirt beside me."
This woman had never heard of Jesus before Alissa was moved with compassion to sit down beside her. After she heard the story of Jesus and his love, she asked him to come into her heart. She now feels more peace and joy in her life.

2008 :: First Annual Children's Day
The highlight of Alissa's time in Uganda was our "Children's Day." She worked with a local pastor and other workers of God's Care Ministries to organize a day to honor the children. We had over 400 children, including 110 orphans. We fed the children lunch, administered medication and educational supplies, preached the gospel, and played games. We also invited some of the government officials to attend, which helped lay the foundation for future endeavors.

2008 :: Piggery Project
Alissa's heart had been deeply moved by the condition of the Ugandan schools where she had the privilege of teaching for about a month and a half in 2007. Alissa was determined to do something for this school so she gave the headmaster Mwase Godfrey a small donation. He used the money to purchase a pig to develop a piggery project, and he even named it after Alissa! This Piggery Project is now bringing in revenue for the school.
